ABILITY SCORE BONUSESModifiers based on your Strength, Constitution, Dexterity, Intelligence, Wisdom and Charisma scores.
STARTING CHARACTERSTo determine Ability Scores, use the point buy method. Start with these six scores: 8, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10. You have 22 points to spend on improving them. The cost of raising a score from one number to a higher number is shown on the table below.
* If your score is 8, you can pay 1 to make it 9 or 2 to make it 10. You must buy your score up to 10 before you can improve it further. This method generates the following example stat ranges:

LEVEL BONUSESYour level bonus is equal to one-half your total level, rounded down. Heroic levels range from 1 to 10, Paragon levels 11 to 20 and Epic levels 21 to 30.
DEFENSE SCORESBase Defense: All defenses start with 10 + your Level Bonus (one-half your level). Armor Class: Add the armor bonus of the armor you wear and the shield bonus of the shield you carry. If you're wearing light armor or no armor, also add your Dexterity modifier or Intelligence modifier, whichever is higher. Fortitude: Add your Strength modifier or Constitution modifier, whichever is higher. Reflex: Add your Dexterity modifier or Intelligence modifier, whichever is higher. If you're using a shield, add its shield bonus. Will: Add your Wisdom modifier or Charisma modifier, whichever is higher. |
