Character Faction Renown

DM's Note: I'm using the Renown system from the D&D5e Dungeon Master's Guide (p. 22-23) to reward characters helping rival nations, groups, and Tree Lands noble houses. It can work as a bonus for certain ability checks, or flip to be a penalty when confronting enemies of a faction.

Increases in Renown may also come as rewards for completing specific adventure missions. (For example, see "Rumors at the Banquet" adventure ideas.)

Rough Guide: renown +10 or more = local leader; renown +2 to +9 = famous and respected; renown +1 = "we've heard of you..."; renown +0 = "who are you?"; renown -1 or worse = infamous, pariah, or known enemy.
